BIOGRAPHY
As most of you know, I grew up following in my legendary Father's footsteps and shadow; and I wouldn't have it any other way. My brothers, sister, and I spent much of our time growing up at Dick Weber Lanes in Florissant, Missouri. Bowling was always our choice and never forced upon us as children. Actually, all sports had my interest and while I was growing up, baseball held my interest as much as bowling did. But as time passed, bowling eventually edged out baseball.
Back in the 1970s Dick Weber Lanes was the host of many PBA events. I remember when I was about the age of 12 and the professional bowlers would come into town for the event. My Dad would set up "pot games" between me and some of the pros. If I beat the pro, they would have to buy me a soda. If they beat me, Dad would pay them $50. I think it all started there! At 14 years old, I advanced to the adult leagues with the approval of my Father. My very first game in an adult league at Crest Bowl in Florissant, MO was 300! From there I bowled many PBA Regional tournaments as a non-member and won my first regional by the age of 16. In November 1979, I joined the PBA at the age of 17 and I never looked back.
And after 37 PBA National titles (10 of them majors and 5 of those being US Opens) and 49 PBA Regional titles, I'm still going strong. I will be bowling professionally and competitively as long as I believe I can win. And I do believe I can still win. The only thing I might have changed is that I wish I had done better in school.
When I'm not bowling I'm golfing and when I'm not doing either of those things, I'm spending time with my family and my 3 grandchildren. My favorite food is Korean Bar-B-Que. My wife and I enjoy seeking out new Korean restaurants here at home and on the road. My favorite music is classic rock. I keep my sports teams close to home. I love my St. Louis Cardinals!!! However, my favorite golfer is Fred Couples.
